New Life Nyambene is committed to creating a better future for some of the most disadvantaged and stigmatised children in Africa. Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned street children in Kenya and to give them the educational opportunities that are their best chance of escaping destitution.

Together Again
It was a delight for Miriam to be back in Kenya during July and August. There was was a joy-filled reunion with many current children and alumni, and a loving first meeting with those who have come into our care since her last visit.

Not all of us are shown here. Currently there are 29 young people in our care, some of whom are away at college and some provided for in their villages.

During her visit, Miriam had the opportunity to take Douglas and Immanuel who have lived with us since February, on a journey to see their families. They were very happy to see each other, but all were glad to have the boys remain with us.

The boys’ improvements in every way are marked.

These two tragic graves are of Douglas’s grandmother (left) who cared for him and gave him into our care; and Immanuel’s family member (right) aged 10, whose death from starvation in Immanuel’s arms was our major prompt in inviting Immanuel to live with us.

After all their early suffering, here is a joyful picture of all of our new residents with their very happy ‘Mum’!

Celebrating Success
Roy (red hoodie) and Mark have both overcome enormous personal trauma to become not only high academic achievers, but also wise, loving and reflective people. Roy has been with us since he was 4, and has just entered Senior High School with A grades in every subject. Mark came to us aged 16, is currently in his final undergraduate year reading Science and Education at Chukka University, and is hoping to progress to an MA and lecture in Physics and Chemistry, pursuing an academic career.

Wonderful news!

New Life Nyambene has now registered its subsidiary organisation in Kenya: New Life Nyambene Trust. This new incorporated NFP trust gives us the freedom to buy land, set up businesses, and take any other action that benefits the community. We are thrilled! – and immediately set about the joyful task of finding our perfect plot of land on which to build a permanent home. Our great appreciation and thanks are due to Grace Mando, pictured above.

More wonderful news!

Congratulations to our project manager, Martha, and welcome little Tumaini !

And finally, farewell to a dear friend.
Rest in Peace Richard Murigu. d.12-09-2025

Richard has been a faithful support and help to NLN for our entire existence. As just one example, this picture from 2023 shows him collecting Anthony, whose behaviour meant that he needed extra, individual care away from the other children. Richard willingly took him into his own home, where Anthony is still living.

He was also a dear personal friend.
I will miss him very much.
