Maua, a small but growing town
Maua is located 60 km North of Meru Town on the northwestern slopes of Nyambene Hills and west of Meru National Park. It is the centre of the Khat (Miraa) trade across Kenya and the world. Income from khat exports to Europe were sharply cut when the UK declared the stimulant a class C drug and banned all imports in June, 2014.
Most smallholdings grow Miraa, and it is everywhere visible for sale in the town.
Our Structure
New Life Nyambene is a partnership between Kenya and the UK. The Children's Project in Kenya is managed and run by a dedicated team of Kenyans from the local community.
